PADI ENRICHED AIR NITROX COURSE
One of the most frustrating things for divers is having to end an incredible dive because their No Decompression Limit (NDL) is running low. Imagine the scene… You’re looking at one of the most amazing marine creatures you’ve ever seen (like when you’re diving on Koh Tao with a whale shark!), but you have to start ascending because you’re reaching your maximum nitrogen levels.
The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox (Eanx) specialty is one of the few Koh Tao diving certifications you can earn without even getting in the water. Learning to dive on Eanx increases your bottom time by reducing your nitrogen load during each dive. The result? More time underwater, less waiting around on the surface to jump back in, and longer repetitive dives. Win, win, win!
PADI ENRICHED AIR NITROX COURSE: OVERVIEW
If you are out of the water for any reason but still want to rack up as many Koh Tao diving certifications on your trip as possible, Eanx is an excellent option. You only need a day to complete the theory. However, if you have a little extra time and are fit to dive, it’s worth sticking around to take a couple of Nitrox dives and put everything you’ve learned into practice.
We always recommend the two-day course, but it’s not mandatory. If you hang around to complete Nitrox dives, we’ll be sure to schedule our other Koh Tao diving trips and courses so we visit dive sites where you’ll really see and feel the benefits of diving on Eanx.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN?
Learning to extend your diving limits is often very advantageous, especially if you want to do lots of deep or wreck diving on Koh Tao or plan on taking a liveaboard trip later down the line. The PADI Eanx specialty is one of the only Koh Tao dive courses that doesn’t include any waterwork. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun.
KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT
To get Eanx certified, all you need to do is complete a day of theory with one of our experienced instructors at our Koh Tao dive shop, located right on the beach in the heart of Sairee. You’ll learn how to safely plan and perform dives using EANx blends of up to 40% oxygen.
We’ll show you how to use alternative NDL models (tables and computer) to manage O2 exposure limits based on your different nitrogen loading profiles. We’ll also show you how to set your dive computer for use with enriched air of varying percentages, and how to analyse your tanks and keep a safety log.
OPTIONAL OPEN WATER DIVES
If you have the flexibility to stay a little longer on Koh Tao, diving on EANx right after the course while everything is fresh in your memory is a great idea. You’ll plan your dives using a dive computer and get a chance to experience the benefits in practice as well as theory - all under the watchful eye of one of our experienced instructors..

ENRICHED AIR NITROX COURSE SCHEDULE
You’ll only need 1 day to get Eanx certified on the ‘dry course’, or 2 days if you’d prefer to get a couple of Eanx dives in while you’re here.
DAY 1
Because this Koh Tao diving certification doesn’t require you to go out on the boat or get in the water, we can be flexible with the start time. Your instructor will give you a short course overview before reviewing the theory using official PADI training materials. At the end of the day, you’ll have all of the knowledge development down, have practised analysing tanks, and be qualified to use Eanx on your next Koh Tao Diving Courses or Fun Dives
DAY 2 (Optional)
On your 2 optional training dives using Enriched Air Nitrox, you’ll get to see just how much diving on Eanx can extend your limits - especially if we end up at one of the Koh Tao dive sites where you’re most likely to see a whale shark. Fingers crossed!

EANX COURSE PREREQUISITES

Participants must be at least 15 years old.

You need to have your PADI Adventure Diver or PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification already (or the equivalent from another agency).

If you want to complete the optional dives, you must fill in a medical questionnaire, just as you would for any other scuba diving course on Koh Tao. Please contact us before booking if you’re unsure about anything on the form

If you want to tag on the optional dives or combine other Koh Tao diving certifications that include spending time underwater, local laws require us to ensure all divers have adequate insurance coverage. Some travel insurance policies don't cover scuba diving, while others do. Therefore, to ensure your safety and retain our excellent safety record, FIFTY SIX DIVE provides free scuba diving insurance for the duration of your time with us.
