Has it been a while since your last PADI Diving Courses or fun diving trip? To ensure maximum safety, all Koh Tao scuba diving operators are required to ensure customers have dived recently and are up-to-date with their dive skills and knowledge.
If you haven't dived for 6 months or more, have forgotten how to set up your equipment, or would prefer to take a quick theory review before heading out Fun Diving on Koh Tao, you’ll need a scuba refresher.
SCUBA REFRESHER: COURSE OVERVIEW
At FIFTY SIX DIVE, we incorporate an ocean dive into the PADI ReActivate program to ensure you have plenty of time to re-master your buoyancy and trim in addition to going over equipment setup and a review of essential dive theory. Our refreshers take an entire day. But don’t worry, it’s not all classroom-based. You’ll get to head out on our boat and explore a couple of great Koh Tao dive sites while you refresh your skills.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
If you need a refresher, the first day of your Koh Tao scuba diving holiday will begin in the morning to cover the ‘dry’ part of the PADI ReActivate program. You’ll review equipment set-up and go over some basic dive safety and planning theory to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything important since the last time you were in the water.
Once the academic review is complete, you’ll complete a shallow water skills review and jump on our boat as it departs on one of our twice-daily Koh Tao diving trips. You get one ocean dive included as part of the refresher, and have the option to take a second dive at another shallow site. This is a great way to get super comfortable before signing up for deeper Koh Tao scuba diving excursions for the remainder of your time with us.

While weather conditions sometimes affect Koh Tao scuba diving schedules, here’s a typical example of what you can expect when you sign up for your refresher with FIFTY SIX DIVE:

The FIFTY SIX DIVE refresher includes one ocean dive as standard. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there. Our boat always goes out for 2-dive trips, so you can take an optional second dive if you’d like.
Dive 1
Explore one of our incredible Koh Tao scuba diving sites, observing tropical marine life and beautiful coral reefs. As it will be your first time in the ocean for a while, we’ll take you to a shallow, sandy bay, where you can remaster your buoyancy and trim in a safe environment. Once you’re comfortable, you’ll head off to explore the reef.
Dive 2
Since the whole point was to refresh yourself so you can do more diving, why not jump straight back in for a second dive? We always take enough tanks just in case, so there’s no need to decide before. Just let your divemaster know, and they’ll fix you up for round 2! We’ll never pressure you, though. It’s also totally fine to chill out on the boat and soak up some afternoon sun.

Before we can take you diving on Koh Tao as part of any PADI program, you’ll need to fill in a medical questionnaire. If you’re unsure about anything on the form, please contact us before booking.

Scuba diving on Koh Tao is safe, and accidents are infrequent. However, local laws require us to ensure that all divers have adequate insurance coverage. Some travel insurance policies don't cover scuba, while others do. Therefore, to ensure your safety and retain our excellent safety record, FIFTY SIX DIVE provides free insurance for fun divers on all of our Koh Tao scuba diving trips.
