Why Become A PADI Divemaster?

If you want to change careers, challenge yourself, build your self-confidence, travel, meet new people, make a lifestyle change or have a lifestyle break then the PADI Divemaster course is for you.

As a PADI Divemaster you’ll be living the life that most people only dream of. You’ll be doing something you love and you’ll be able to do it anywhere in the world. This is the start of an amazing adventure as a PADI Professional – the world really will be your oyster!

What Can a PADI Divemaster Do?

PADI Divemasters are at the heart of the diving industry. As a PADI Divemaster you’ll be certified to guide other divers around your favourite dive sites. You’ll be a mentor to other divers and someone they look up to. Remember your favourite dive guide? That could be you!

As a PADI Divemaster working in the scuba diving industry, you’ll have a variety of different responsibilities. Here are some of the core functions that you’ll be able to carry out:

Guiding Certified Divers

As a certified PADI Divemaster you can guide certified divers underwater. This means that you’ll be able to find employment in the diving industry and manage daily dive trips. You’ll be communicating with the divers and boat crew, giving boat briefings and dive site briefings, as well as being in charge of safety on board the boat and underwater.

Assisting Instructors

Another important role of a PADI Divemaster is in assisting PADI Instructors during courses. You’ll be the extra eyes that an instructor needs when taking students though their open water courses. Students may come to you with any issues they are having, and they will look to you as a role model and for guidance, leadership and support with any problems they are having. If a student is struggling with a particular skill, the instructor may ask you to work one on one with them until they achieve mastery.

Organizing Dive Trips and Vacations

If you are not looking to work fulltime in the dive industry but want to organize group or club travel, as a PADI Divemaster you’ll be able to do so. AND as a PADI professional, many dive centers, resorts, and liveaboards offer great discounts for PADI pro’s. You may also be entitled to free spots as a group leader when organizing larger trips!!

What does the Divemaster Program Include?

A lot!! A lot of diving development and a lot of FUN! Here at FIFTY56SIX Dive you’ll become part of our team. You’ll be mentored and feel supported from start to finish. The PADI Divemaster Certification is your first step on the ladder to being a professional diver and we want you to have the most comprehensive and memorable experience possible.

You’ll work together with our team of professional Instructors to uplevel your dive skills to demonstration quality so you can work with students. You’ll learn how to map a dive site, reconfirm your EFR and rescue skills, you’ll start giving boat briefings and dive site briefing to REAL guests, you’ll overview our team as they service gear, you’ll look at how we manage reservations and how we allocate boats, you’ll also learn how to read the tides and sea conditions. It’s a lot but it’s an amazing experience!!
